Finding an Agent let alone a Broker that really understands the investing community could be a hard challenge. All too often agents have little experience in the commercial side of real estate.
This was the case for Sam Maropis before he opened Profit Realty as the Broker.
In 2002, he started as an investor. Started wholesaling houses in San Antonio. In 2003, did his first rehab, sold it, carried paper and found it successful. Still he was working with lots of great agents but agents who really were not as focused on helping him make money as they were in closing that deal. So often these agents did not really have the experience of managing the sale of a commercial or multifamily property.
In 2007, Sam Maropis partnered with a good friend and bought a 48 unit property on the east side of San Antonio, Peach Creek Apartments. At the time, the property was crime ridden, lots of problems, but plowing ahead they turned the property around. Today it is a great property, and lots of great folks live there. In April 2015, they sold the property.
At the time of the sale, Sam Maropis worked with a major broker who was to help get him the most for the sale of his property. Sam believed that the agent would help throughout the process to make it easy to close. After Sam and Don realized that even in the big broker firms, it seems that the agents are more interested in getting the listing and moving on to the next property. Leaving the sellers doing all of the work to get it closed.
With this as a driver, Sam Maropis decided to open Profit Realty with a focus on helping investors succeed in this great business, not be just another closing for that agent.
